State-owned railway firm PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) says the railway system that will connect the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to train stations in Jakarta will be in full operation by the end of 2013.
“I think the development can be finished within two years. So I assume at the end of 2013 the airport train will be finished,” KAI president director Ignasius Jonan said on Thursday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Land acquisition for the airport railway system has been ongoing, leaving only four kilometers of land yet to be acquired.
According to Jonan, the total budget for the whole project would reach Rp 2.25 trillion (US$250 million).
